Cycle Workshop

The Cycle Workshop was well received by the 20 participants who attended between the ages of 7-16. They listened while they learnt how to prepare themselves before going on a ride, which included appropriate clothing and safety equipment such as wearing a helmet and attaching lights to the bicycle.

They then enjoyed a series of activities and games which help improve the way they rode on their bicycles as well as learning how to signal and manoeuvre within a confined space.

Maintenance check

The workshop is for all ages.

Cycling for Beginners

Around 16 participants attended the Cycle for Beginners, with 4 new cyclists learning how to cycle for the first including two twin boys who got their first bicycles that morning. The rest of the participants were involved in games and activities including dodgeball while cycling, with the aim of improving their skills on the bike.

Never cycled before? Want to learn how to cycle? or want to brush up on your cycling, or feel like getting your bike out for a cycle. Then why not attend the‘Cycling for Beginners’workshop, which aims to teach kids how to cycle.

The workshop is for 7-16 years.

(Under 7’s must be accompanied by an adult)

Kids Cycle Ride

Young and eager, cyclists from as young as 5-16 came out to enjoy a day of cycling in the park. 26 Participants in total enjoyed a quick bike check along with some minor adjustments before the group was split in to two groups, the U10’s and 10-16 years.

The U10’s enjoyed a session of how to control their balance by going in and out of cones and also learning how to follow the leader before enjoying a trip around Valentines Park.

The U16’s experienced a much enjoyable ride as could be seen on the faces of the children as they returned from a trip across Wanstead Park up and down hills and through the forestry tracks to find themselves in Manor Park before returning not too long before the end of the session.

Kids Cycle Ride

The kids enjoyed a hot summer day’s ride through Valentines Park on to the roads towards Redbridge Roundabout taking the underpass up towards Woodford along the path of the River Roding. Once they reached Charlie Brown Roundabout, they quickly cut across into Roding Valley Park.

A total of 9 miles there and back taking just over an hour to complete saw the kids exhausted and but wanting more!

Time: 2.30pm-4.30pm

Age: 10-16 

All participants must wear a helmet.
